Joel H. Pearson

     Joel H. Pearson was born in Montgomery, Alabama on July 11, 1958.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the University of South Alabama in 1981 where he served as president of several student organizations and received a number of honors and awards including induction into Omicron Delta Kappa, Order of Omega, and Sigma Iota Epsilon Management Honorary.  During college he also served as a Congressional Intern in the U S House of Representatives.

     Mr. Pearson received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Alabama School of Law.  He has been admitted to practice before all Alabama state and federal courts since 1985.  He is also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.  He has Martindale-Hubbell's highest "AV" rating.

     Mr. Pearson has tried numerous civil jury and non-jury cases in Alabama state and federal courts.  Some of the cases he has tried include fraud, insurance fraud and bad faith, premises liability, automobile, product defects, employment discrimination and worker's compensation.  He has also tried a number of cases before administrative bodies.  His primary areas of practice are insurance defense, insurance coverage and general civil trial practice.  Mr. Pearson has appeared in state circuit courts throughout Alabama and in each of Alabama’s three federal district courts.  Mr. Pearson has extensive experience in federal jurisdictional issues and the removal of cases from state court to federal court. He has also participated in the mediation of cases throughout the State of Alabama.  Mr. Pearson is also a registered Mediator for the Alabama Center for Dispute Resolution.

     Mr. Pearson has served as counsel on numerous appeals, with reported appellate court decisions from each of Alabama's appellate courts and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.  Mr. Pearson has presented oral argument before both the Supreme Court of Alabama and the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals.  He has served as a Hearing Officer for the State of Alabama.  He has also been appointed and served as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of Alabama.

     Mr. Pearson is a member of the American Bar Association, the Alabama State Bar, the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association, the Montgomery County Bar Association, and an alumni member of the American Inns of Court.
